What is your response to Jesus?

The first responses to Jesus were selfish interest (like Herod), disinterest (like many Jews), and genuine interest (like the wise men). Herod's motivation was to destroy any rivals for his throne. The scholars and scribes knew a Messiah was coming but didn't investigate for themselves. But the wise men were very determined to find him. They wanted to know Jesus. Friends, is your interest in Jesus a selfish interest, is it disinterest, or is it a genuine interest?

This clip is excerpted from the sermon "Giving Your Gift to Jesus," part 3 of our sermon series He Made Us Family: God's Work, Our Witness 2012. It was preached by Pastor Mark Driscoll out of Matthew 2:1--12 at Mars Hill Downtown Bellevue and released on December 16.

Hey Wes,
thanks for sharing this. I like it.
I love that it is a call to the unshakable foundation that the Gospel MUST be in our lives rather than just behavior modification.
