First Letter. Write down on a piece of paper the first letter of every word. I have never understood this, but it really works for some people. It just makes me feel like K-Fed at a Spelling Bee.
Set a goal. How many verses? How long?
Get a partner. Nothing like a little competition!
Write it out. Again, doesn’t work for me, but some people’s minds really work if they write out the text in their journal.
Have a set time, place, environment, routine each day. For example, tell yourself that you are going to wake up 15 minutes early every day, sit at the kitchen table (assuming you aren’t a college guy and have a kitchen table), drink a cup of coffee, put on classical music, and spend 15 minutes memorizing. Do this every day. It is amazing what a routine will do for you.
Get a bible small enough that you can carry around with you. Some people hate routines. That is fine. Bring your bible with you and you can work on it during breaks, downtimes, in waiting rooms, between classes, while in the John, etc. The only deal is you might have to go purchase a smaller bible as one of the monster bibles with the lace doily WWJD covers might be a little awkward.
Set it to music. People make it into lyrics of a song.
