"Today we're going to do something that might seem strange, maybe even a little awkward. We're going to open our Bibles and we're going to learn about sex."
I used these words to open a recent series at our church on purity. I shared that the purpose of our series on purity was to examine what it means to glorify God as sexual human beings in a world filled with temptation.
The series started out as a 3-week series focused mainly on sexual purity, but ended up running 6 weeks, the last three of which considered the topic of pursuing holiness throughout our lives.
Here are the 6 Messages (or stream them here).
1. Part 1: "God's Good Plan for Sex", considered a biblical view of God's good plan for our sexuality, and how we can flee temptation to go outside of God's boundaries.
2. Part 2: "Resisting Lust" examined how lust deceives us and how we can learn to resist it.
3. Part 3: "Marital Intimacy" discussed the role that intimacy in marriage plays in protecting men and women from sexual immorality..
4. Part 4: Centered on Paul's reminder in Galatians 6 that we reap what we sow, and considered how we can pursue holiness by sowing to the Spirit, and not to the flesh.
5. Part 5: Continued the focus of holiness, looking at what the pursuit of holiness requires in our lives. (some accompanying "artwork" linked below)
6. Part 6: Considered why we must continue press on in holiness.
