Steve Weaver @ http://pastorsteveweaver.wordpress.com reports on the funeral of Maria Chapman, the five-year-old daughter of Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman. I have long been encouraged by the depth of Chapman’s lyrics and life. Watching this clip reinforced my confidence in the sincerity of the faith professed and proclaimed by Steven Curtis Chapman. Seeing the family singing Matt Redman’s “Blessed Be Your Name” with hands uplifted in praise to God was quite moving. The song is based on Job’s words in Job 1:21:
Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. (21) And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (22) In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong. (ESV)
