Truth or Dare: Make the Church Whatever you Want Conference

Review By Ingrid Schlueter @ http://www.sliceoflaodicea.com/

You really need to watch this video for an upcoming February conference. The website is ChurchDare.com and it pretty much sums things up.

The first segment where the pastor says you can change your church from this...(cut to a clip of a church singing a hymn) to this....(cut to scenes that look like a rehearsal for hell), is about as clear as I've seen it. The claims are that you can double, triple your size as a church if you follow this latest growth guru.

I looked at the church that is sponsoring this conference and how it's in a certain "phase" of its building program with orgeous new buildings, etc. It is nothing that money, good business management and creative thinking couldn't have built in an office park.

There is no need for the Holy Spirit here to build this kind of church. This is carnal thinking and it is producing carnal evangelical pastors who delude themselves into thinking they are doing the work of the ministry.

Interesting that there is a "hot sauce" theme for the church conference. The hot sauce bottle says, "recipe taken from the book of Acts". Friends, that's a lie. Their recipe is taken from Peter Drucker and the best of the the business schools. The Holy Spirit will not try to compete with these pastors' raw ambitions cloaked in religious jargon. Either God builds the church or you're building in vain.

These churches will reach people, but nobody is actually asking what they're reaching them with or for. Answer: They are being reached for a thumping good and entertaining time while they avail themselves of all the programs and resources a megachurch provides. Think YMCA. Self improvement with a little Jesus drizzled on top. So do want a dare as a church, or do you want the truth of God's Word? You can't have both.
