Pastors.com: Clown Noses to Convey Eternal Truths?

Proving once again that no satire regarding the sorry state of evangelicalism can outdo reality, please read this article from pastors.com first and then link to this site that is included in the article. I'll bet you didn't know that "beginning with the Word" is a bad thing. Well, welcome to the weird and wacky world of Purpose-Driven church. What's needed now, according to the author, are communicators, not preachers. Of course, to communicate effectively, minus the Holy Spirit, you will need to utilize things like clown noses, trapeze artists, dancing poodle shows and so forth. I'm not joking. These things are now called, "experiential resources". Here's an excerpt from the article:

The primary difference is that preachers begin with the Word and communicators start with the audience. Sounds sacrilegious to begin with who's listening, but it's what Jesus did. He didn't keep repeating the same Kingdom message over and over. Jesus constantly changed up his communication based on his audience.

Pastors today don't want to begin with the Word because they have no confidence in the promises of God. They don't regard the Word as foundational and they reject the idea that the Holy Spirit alone is responsible for conversions. That's why we are seeing clown noses on our pastors today. It is a fitting statement that they put more confidence in a rubber nose than the eternal Word of God.
